Glamping Sweden, the glamping trend has come to South of Sweden

The destination mentioned in this article, Hemma På Hult, has moved on. You can follow the owners’ new ventures at Explore Småland.

Glamping in South Sweden, perfect for luxury camping close to nature in a secluded spot with access to excellent food and outdoor activities. This is an excellent city break option for Swedes and international guests looking for simple but luxurious stay in nature.

Camping is a Swedish tradition

Most Swedes have unbelievable stories from their childhood camping experiences. The memories of playing in sunny days outside their tent or motorhome. It was a modest but often cramped adventure. They were trying to relax in the crowded nature, especially during midsummer.

Glamping is quite the difference. It is only you and your family or friends in an exclusive setting surrounded by nature.

Exclusive glamping in Sweden at Hemma på Hult

The GoNatureTrip network visited the farm resort Hemma på Hult to get an insight to a Swedish version of Glamping. The farm is located on the far eastern side of Lake Vättern, near the “Östra Vätternbranterna biosphere reserve area”. At Hemma på Hult, they have chosen to offer glamping with full service.

Chatrine, the owner, told us:

”The farm has a long history of offering guest accommodation, as far back as 1754. Originally intended only as a guest house, today we have developed it into a sustainable farm hotel. “

A typical glamping experience is for 2 days as Chatrine explained more in depth about the experience:

“We will greet you at the parking lot and show you the way to your tent. It is a secluded spot in the forest with striking views of nature, trees and meadows. At the same time, it is not far away from the main farm house and the barns.”

She continued:

“Shortly after check-in, a picnic basket with homemade goodies awaits you outside the tent. Later, when the sun goes down, dinner will be also served at the tent, obviously with a focus on local produce from our kitchen. If you want, you can of course choose to eat in our beautiful barn or on the outdoor terrace instead.”

Chatrine has her own take on Swedish traditional food, a legacy from her mother and her love for her kitchen garden, and her knowledge of the forests, herbs and edible plants, as well as her passion for sustainability.

Unforgettable glamping experience

Chatrine then showed us our tents. We slept in these tents, even though they are simple, it has with everything we needed. It has an absolutely comfortable bed, enough space for our belongings, table and chairs outside, and a peaceful environment.

We even experienced the wonder of waking up in nature fresh after a great night’s sleep to a lovely breakfast basket with fresh baked bread, eggs, yoghurt and tea / coffee, etc.

It was an unforgettable night’s stay. It was luxurious, but at the same time quite basic. There was no wifi, electricity or bathroom, yet we felt fulfilled. If we needed something, such as the bathroom, we just needed to take a short walk to the main farm house.

We spent the time gathering together and chatted for hours. Time flew by, but we got to know each other on a much deeper level because there were no distractions. It was definitely very different to camping as we know it, because we were very comfortable and we weren’t surrounded by others. Chatrine has created something beautiful and we highly recommend visitors coming to Sweden, as well as locals, to try it out.
